Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a treatment method applied to save the tooth and maintain oral health. It is applied in cases where the nerve tissue of the tooth is damaged or infected.
Steps of root canal treatment:
1.Decayed or infected tissues of the tooth are cleaned.
2. The root canals of the tooth are shaped and disinfected.
3.The channels are filled with special filling material and sealed.
Advantages of Root Canal Treatment:
-It allows saving the tooth instead of pulling it out.
-Chewing function is preserved.
-Possible melting of the jawbone is prevented.
Symptoms Requiring Treatment:
-Persistent and severe toothache.
-Sensitivity and swelling of the tooth.
-Signs of infection or abscess formation in the gums.
Things to Consider After Root Canal Treatment:
-Hard foods should be avoided for 24 hours after treatment.
-Temporary tooth sensitivity is normal, but if the pain persists, contact your dentist.

After the root canal treatment is completed, the tooth may be weakened, so a crown may be recommended for its long-term protection.
Apical Resection
Apical resection is a surgical procedure to remove persistent infections at the root tip.
This is the treatment method:
-Preferred in cases where channel treatment is inadequate.
-Inflamed or infected tissue at the root tip of the tooth is surgically removed.
-The health of the surrounding tissues is maintained and the tooth is kept in the mouth.
Implementation Process of Apical Resection:
1.Under local anesthesia, a surgical entry is made into the tooth root.
2.Infected or pathologic tissue at the root tip is removed.
3.The cleaned area is reshaped and covered with filler.
In which cases is it necessary?
-Cases where infection persists after canal treatment.
-Cyst formation at the root of the tooth.
-Cases where other methods for saving the tooth are inadequate.

After the apical resection procedure, excessive pressure on the area should be avoided and the care instructions recommended by your physician should be followed.
